Our Story
Jeff Steelman grew up in Kernersville, NC, where sports, hunting, and business were always a part of life. Over the years, he worked in tobacco fields, learned the retail business in his grandfather's auto parts store, owned a small convenience store (Belews Creek Grocery), held a leadership role at G&B Energy, and worked in the NASCAR division of Goody's Headache Powder. During his time in NASCAR, he also contracted his services to drivers and sponsors such as Realtree, DuPont, and Tide.
Jeff met his wife, Dawn, in 1993, and they married in 1994. Together they welcomed two children, Katy and Matt. In 2006, Jeff came across a new opportunity: an ACE Hardware store in Advance, NC. While the business was struggling, Jeff saw the potential in both the store and the growing Advance community and decided to take a chance.
Today, Jeff and Dawn celebrate 20 years of ownership at Steelman's ACE Hardware and expanded with a second location in Arcadia, NC, in 2025. We are grateful for the dedicated employees, loyal customers, and supportive communities who have been part of the journey. Your support has helped make Steelman's ACE Hardware what it is today, and the Steelman family looks forward to serving the community for many years to come.,
